No entry visa is needed. EU and EFTA citizens enjoy freedom of movement. There are no restrictions with regard to the duration of stay or residence. Citizens of those countries may live and work in Spain even if they have already done so in the past. Canada and New ZealandIs your au pair from Canada or New Zealand? Great! In this case, this young person may work as an au pair and earn money in Spain. The au pair needs to apply for a visa at the Spanish embassy. For this purpose he/she will need an au pair contract. Other countriesYour au pair does not come from an EU or EFTA country and is no citizen of Canada or New Zealand? In this case, a student visa may be an alternative. If these requirements are met, the au pair may be granted permission to work for a certain number of hours per week. The au pair should clarify this point beforehand with the Spanish embassy in his/her country.
