Au pair in Austria
The host family needs to notify the Job Service Centre (AMS) two weeks prior to the employment's start. However, this applies to au pairs coming from non-EU countries. Then the Job Service Centre (AMS) will issue a confirmation of notification (Anzeigebestätigung).
The au pair will only get a confirmation of notification, if she didn't work in Austria for longer than a year in the last five years. As from 1 May 2011, citizens of the 2004 accession countries, the so-called EU-8 states (the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithunia, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia), are granted unrestricted freedom of movement for workers. This means: Au pairs from the EU-8 states no longer need a permit to work in any EU member state.
Au pairs from other countries can get a residence permit at an Austrian embassy or consulate. For this purpose they need to provide a valid confirmation of notification (Anzeigebestätigung). This document will be used to issue an entry and residence permit. We cannot guarantee that all information we gathered is correct or complete although we have done our best in the research. We appreciate any comments. Thank you. Au Pair Visa & Regulations in other Countries
